How To Keep Your Email Account Secure

If you want to secure your Email account like Gmail , Yahoo , Hotmail or Reddifmail , then here are some useful tips for you.

1. Choose Good Password For Your Email Account :

With so many of us use email everyday and in all areas of our lives like business transactions , so it is essential to keep email secure. Use strong password to protect your email from hackers /script kiddies. You should use digits ,alphanumeric characters ,specific symbols (@#$%^&*!_+) . Don’t use your birth date or your pet name as password .And once you have a strong password, don’t write it down or send it via email.

2. Install Antivirus Software on Your Machine :

Always install antivirus software on your PC/Desktop .It keeps your PC free from viruses ,trojans ,spam emails ,rootkits and malwares. So antivirus will stop spam emails & will increase your email’s security.

3. Think Before You Login At Public Place:

When we need to open our email outside our PC than you should be sure that public WiFi or Ethernet connections are secure ,otherwise your login information may be captured. It is also nor recommended to use email at Cyber Cafe ,your password may be saved.

4. Use 2-Step Verification :

If you use your email account at many places where your password may be stolen or captured ,then 2-step verification is recommended for you. Most email providers use this method to secure your account.Whenever you sign in to a new computer you will be asked for a verification code sent via text, voice call or to an alternative email address.It’s time consuming but good or the best way to secure your email account.you can see google’s 2-step verification here.

5. Think Before You Send Any Email :

If you you are sending any confidential data through email then you should cross check destination email id. May be your email account is secure but you have no information about other end. Backup of your email may be stored and forwarded.

6. Always Sign Out Of Your Account :

If you working in a office where other employ also use your Desktop/PC then you must sign out of your all account whether it is email account or twitter or facebook. If you are the only user  then you can avoid it ,but sign out is recommended.

7. Don’t Open Spam and Suspicious Emails :

Email spam, also known as junk email or unsolicited bulk email (UBE), is a subset of electronic spam involving nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by email. Clicking on links in spam email may send users to phishing web sites or sites that are hosting malware .
